Who runs Kage

Kage (kage.design) is an independent, free design inspiration library run by Chris Gregori. It is not a company and has no employees. Questions about this page can be sent to [email protected].

No accounts, no personal data

The public site has no sign up, login, newsletter or forms that ask for your name, email address or any other personal detail. There is nothing to create, nothing to delete and nothing to export, because nothing about you is stored.

Cookieless analytics

Kage counts visits so we know which designs people find useful. This works without cookies, local storage identifiers or fingerprinting. When a page loads, the server combines your IP address and browser user agent with a secret that changes every day and hashes the result. The hash is stored, the IP address and user agent are not. Because the secret rotates daily, the same visitor produces a different hash tomorrow, so visits cannot be linked across days and no profile can be built.

Raw visit rows are deleted after 48 hours. What remains is a single row per day with two numbers: unique visitors and page views. These totals are published openly on the analytics page.

We also record a handful of anonymous events: copying a prompt, opening a design, running a search, clicking through to a product's site. These carry the name of the design or the search text, never anything about you. A lightweight, cookieless script from our own analytics service (Glance) receives the same event names for the same purpose. It sets no cookies and stores no identifiers.

The one thing stored in your browser

If you switch between light and dark mode, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key phx:theme so the site remembers it. It never leaves your browser and is not an identifier. Clearing site data removes it.

Submitting a site

The "Submit a site" box takes a website address and nothing else. To stop the box being abused, submissions are rate limited using the same daily rotating hash described above. The hash is kept alongside the submission so the limit can be enforced for that day and is meaningless afterwards.

Screenshots of other sites

The designs in the library are screenshots of publicly accessible websites captured by an automated browser. If a site you own appears here and you would rather it did not, email [email protected] and it will be removed.

Third parties

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers when a page loads. Google's own privacy policy applies to those requests.

The help widget in the corner is provided by Uini. It loads from Uini's servers and receives the same anonymous event names our analytics use (a prompt was copied, a search was run) so it can offer relevant help. It is not given your name, email or any identifier by us, because we do not have them. Uini's own privacy policy applies to anything you type into the widget.

No other third-party scripts, pixels or embeds run on the public site.

Administration

A private admin area exists for maintaining the library. It is protected by credentials held only by the operator. Nothing in it relates to visitors.

Changes

If any of this changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will move. Because no personal data is processed there is no one to notify individually.
